Dedicated to returning his patients to the activities they love, Dr. Elton provides his patients with care that is customized and compassionate. From the initial visit to post-operative care, Dr. Elton and his team build a rapport with their patients using skill, empathy, and a personalized approach to recovery. Patients who schedule a consultation with Dr. Elton can expect a consistently exceptional experience, with their outcome goals factored into their treatment.
What To Expect At Your First Appointment
After checking in at the clinic, you will be asked to complete a standard questionnaire. Dr. Elton's athletic trainer will greet you and guide you to the exam room - where they will review your history, take your vitals, and potentially perform a brief physical exam. After discussing your injury, condition, and medical history, the athletic trainer may order imaging tests (such as an X-ray or MRI). Dr. Elton will then meet with you to discuss your condition in more detail, review your imaging tests, and potentially perform a more in-depth physical exam.
"Dr. Elton took the time to connect with me. He also had a very strong team who obviously enjoyed working with patients and each other. Kelli (his physician's assistant) and Amanda (his athletic trainer) were always responsive to my calls and answering my questions. After my surgeries, I am able to snowboard, hike and cross country ski and enjoy outdoor activities with my family. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Elton and his team to anyone!"

Next Steps
Dr. Elton and his team will work together to diagnose your condition. After developing a treatment plan with YOU and your goals in mind, Dr. Elton will recommend the next steps. If your condition can be treated conservatively, his athletic trainer or physician's assistant will set you up with any equipment (ie: ankle braces, foot boots, etc) that you may need during the recovery processes. Dr. Elton's athletic trainer will work closely with you during this step - setting up referrals for physical therapy and ordering any prescriptions you may need.
Following Up With Your Progress
Dr. Elton and his team will work together to diagnose your condition. After developing a treatment plan with you and your goals in mind, Dr. Elton will recommend next steps. They will also schedule follow up appointments to monitor your progress.
Traumatic injuries and fractures that require surgery will be referred to Dr. Elton's surgery scheduler, who will reach out via phone within 48 hours after receiving your surgical order.
If Surgery Is Needed
If conservative treatment methods fail to improve your condition, Dr. Elton will discuss surgical options. Again, this will be done with you - taking your lifestyle and activity level into consideration. Once the procedure is agreed upon, Dr. Elton will submit the paperwork to his surgery scheduler, who will contact you within 48 hours to schedule your surgery date, time, and location.
Before your surgery, Dr. Elton's physician's assistant will schedule a final follow-up appointment to discuss medications, pre-operative instructions, and fit you for any medical equipment you may need during your recovery.
The day before your surgery, a member of Team Elton will contact you to review the check-in procedure, provide final instructions on food and drink, and answer any questions you may have.
Post-Operative Recovery
Your first post-operative follow-up appointment with Team Elton will be a week after surgery. There Dr. Elton's athletic trainer will meet with you to check your incision site and change your dressing. After reviewing your progress, Team Elton will work together to design your post-operative plan - which could involve physical therapy, medication adjustments, and prescribing additional medical equipment to aid in your recovery.
Standard follow-ups with Dr. Elton and his team will occur every few weeks during your first fews months post-op and then, later in your recovery, every six months to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment as needed.
The timeline for your final post-op visit with Team Elton depends on your condition, your procedure, and your recovery progress. However, even after your recovery, Dr. Elton and his team are always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
